About Kiva

Kiva's mission is to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva empowers individuals to lend to an entrepreneur across the globe. By combining microfinance with the internet, Kiva is creating a global community of people connected through lending. Kiva was born of the following beliefs: people are by nature generous, and will help others if given the opportunity to do so in a transparent, accountable way; the poor are highly motivated and can be very successful when given an opportunity; and by connecting people we can create relationships beyond financial transactions, and build a global community expressing support and encouragement of one another. As of November 2011, Kiva has facilitated over $260 million in loans. Join the Palefighter lending team!

Facts about Kiva:
100% of all money from individual lenders (us) funds the projects lenders choose.
Kiva pays it’s personnel and operation costs through grants, and individual and corporate donations. Help Kiva with operational costs here!
Kiva loans empower people to create their own solutions to poverty.
98.79% of Kiva loans are repaid, meaning money can be perpetually used to fund projects.
Kiva has been awarded Charity Navigator’s highest rating.

The Best Part:
I will lend all of the money in my Kiva loan fund (hopefully $10,000!) to entrepreneurs listed on Kiva.org. Over time, the loans will be repaid back into my Kiva loan fund, allowing me to reloan to borrowers of my choice, creating a perpetual funding source to benefit Kiva entrepreneurs!
